How to create an emergency contact on Xiaomi Phone

In case of any unexpected situation, MIUI 13 gives you the option to create one or more emergency contacts on your Xiaomi so that they receive an SMS or automatic call. In such a way, if you are at risk, you can notify your trusted contact easily and in a matter of seconds.

The function is integrated into the emergency SOS mode. It is a hidden setting, one of the many that MIUI offers, with which you can share your location and contact a person from your contact list in case you need help.

How to create an emergency contact on your Xiaomi with MIUI 13

Please note that the emergency SOS mode is enabled on all Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices with MIUI 11 onwards. So, if you haven’t received the MIUI 13 update yet, you can still create your emergency contact just by following these simple steps:

• Go to ‘Settings’.
• Go to ‘Passwords and Security.
• Click on ‘Emergency SOS’.
• Flip the ‘Emergency SOS’ switch to enable contact settings.
• Press the ‘Emergency Contacts’ option.
• At the bottom of the screen, tap the ‘+’ icon to add to your trusted contacts.

The system will immediately take you to your agenda so that you can select one or more people to make up your list of emergency contacts. It is recommended that they be family members or close friends with whom you maintain frequent communication.
