As the demand for RAM utilization by operating systems, games, and apps grows, OEMs are concentrating on features such as RAM expansion, read and write speed, and so on. Many OEMs have successfully implemented RAM or RAM Expansion options into their smartphones thus far. Xiaomi is one of these OEMs as well. So, if you have a Xiaomi phone, you may use this technique to activate the memory expansion on your Xiaomi phone.
What is Virtual Memory Extension?
Virtual Memory Extension is a feature available on Xiaomi devices running MIUI 12.5 or later. This new feature does exactly what it says on the tin. By taking up storage, it adds 1/2/3 GB of RAM. That is, you may use 1 GB, 2 GB, or 3 GB of RAM from your internal storage as extra RAM.
Because RAM memory and storage are distinct, the performance of additional RAM acquired from storage will not be identical to that of original RAM, but it will provide some speed improvement. As a result, it is preferable to utilize this function to improve gaming and multitasking performance on your Xiaomi phone.
How much you can increase RAM?
- Phones with 256GB Storage or more – 3GB RAM
- Phones with 128GB Storage – 2GB
- Phones with 64GB Storage – 1GB
MIUI 12.5 Enhanced is an upgrade that prioritizes device performance above new features. Virtual Memory Extension, Atomized Memory, Swift Performance, Liquid Storage, and other performance modes are examples of these. The availability of these modes varies depending on the device. The Memory Extension, on the other hand, is accessible on all Xiaomi phones running MIUI 12.5 Enhanced.
